Cookie Policy
Effective date: 15 July 2026 Last updated: 15 July 2026
This policy explains how algosweden.se and app.algosweden.se use cookies and similar technologies (including browser localStorage). It supplements our Privacy Policy.
1. Our approach: strictly necessary only
We deliberately keep cookies to a minimum:
- No cookies at all on the public website. algosweden.se sets no cookies — no analytics cookies, no advertising or tracking cookies, no social media pixels. Your language choice is part of the page address (/en or /sv), not a cookie.
- No third-party analytics. We do not use cookie-based analytics tools on either site.
- Strictly necessary only in Studio. app.algosweden.se sets only what is required to sign you in, keep your session secure, and remember essential interface state.
2. Cookies and storage used in Studio (app.algosweden.se)
| Cookie / storage | Set by | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
Authentication/session cookies (e.g. __session, __client_uat) |
Clerk (our authentication provider) | Keeps you signed in and protects your session against forgery | Short-lived (__session expires after about a minute) and automatically refreshed while you remain active |
Client token (__client, set on Clerk's dedicated subdomain of our domain) |
Clerk | Lets Clerk recognise your device between visits so sign-in works | Longer-lived; capped by your browser |
| Security cookies | Clerk | Fraud and abuse prevention, CSRF protection | Session or short-lived |
| Local interface state (localStorage, not a cookie) | AlgoSweden | Essential interface state; in credential-less demo mode, your demo projects live only in your own browser | Until you clear it or reset from Settings |
Exact cookie names and lifetimes are controlled by Clerk and can evolve with its service; the current inventory is documented by Clerk. Everything Clerk sets in Studio falls in the strictly necessary category — authentication and session security.
Payments: we never see or store card data, and our sites do not embed payment scripts. When you subscribe, you are redirected to Stripe's own checkout and billing portal pages (stripe.com domains), where Stripe sets its own cookies under its own cookie policy.
3. Consent
Under Swedish law (the Electronic Communications Act, lagen om elektronisk kommunikation, implementing the EU ePrivacy rules), strictly necessary cookies — those required to deliver a service you have requested — do not require consent. Because we only use strictly necessary cookies, we do not show a consent banner. A banner asking you to accept cookies we do not set would be theatre, and we do not do theatre.
If we ever introduce cookies that are not strictly necessary (for example analytics or marketing cookies), we will ask for your consent through a clear opt-in banner before setting them, and update this policy first.
4. How to control and clear cookies
You can block or delete cookies in your browser at any time. Note that blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent sign-in to Studio.
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies / Delete browsing data
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Safari (macOS): Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Safari (iOS): Settings → Apps → Safari → Clear History and Website Data
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions
Your browser's help pages have current instructions if these menus have changed.
5. Changes
If our use of cookies changes, we will update this page and, where required, obtain consent before any new non-essential cookies are set.
